I'm thinking about taking leave in the first week of October to do some sailing. Can anyone point to a long range weather forecast to see if this is a stupid idea please?

Yes, it's a stupid idea
, but if you insist: 2-4 variable. Nights colder and darker than daytime. Sometimes it will rain, sometimes it won't. 100% accuracy guaranteed.

We were hoping to get some time off around then to do some sailing, so expect rain, hail, sleet, snow, and strong winds from whichever destination we might contemplate!

me and crewmate had a cracking day yesterday and stayed on board last night with all the hatches wide open and the washboards out. Great stars! Had a slow and painful limp up the river but then loyal crewmate dived in and scrubbed the sides and prop and we had a totally delightful sail back this afternoon. Best sail of the year!
