I know VHF transmissions significantly affected the tiller pilot I had some years ago.
Would AIS transmissions on a boat have a similar affect these days ?

They have a tendency to shed an 'O' ring internally that inevitably migrates to the lowest part of the case where the gimballed compass sits. Or it did with mine anyway. Worth a quick check.

Ah, you had it, too. (See last par of post #15.) Hadn't seen any other reports of it. Raymarine were rather cagey about the issue when one of the units went back under warranty.

Thanks for suggestions.Tried everything suggested.Nothing to deviate the compass.Power is plenty even under load.calibrated.adjusted gain etc.

It's reassuring to know I wasn't imagining it. Four incidences don't make it an epidemic, but might suggest Raymarine: a) address it; b) be a little more up-front about it. More worrying still would be their not knowing about it.

Does the Tillerpilot have a separate Fluxgate compass ? Probably. It is metal things near to that which you should be worried about.

The OP's 1000+ has a built-in compass (which sits on gimbals in the bulge at the bottom of the boat end of the device).
