Inboard Engine Valuation.

Perhaps I should clarify.. not a kayak a Folkboat. Marginally bigger but somewhat heavier. Without wanting to repeat myself, please don't get stuck on the fact I mentioned equity. If I wanted to move from an inboard to an outboard for benefits including that mentioned by long_keeler then it seems taking a relatively new and low hours engine to market is better than trying to sell an old tired clapped out one, not a crazy idea as some may be trying to suggest, bluntly or otherwise. Seems more sensible to have someone else put it to use than store it somewhere.

Why not sell the boat with the engine as a major plus and buy the same make of boat with a knackered engine for peanuts and start again? Would make financial sense. May take bit of time though.
