PVB. I think what happened was as follows. The furling line for the old PLastimo system was cleated off and did not slip, neither did the foil move. The main issue I think is that when the genoa was furled (uncleated and allowed to fly) it is was probably not that tightly furled around the forestay and foil. So thinking about last summer in a force 5-6 off the South Coast, the forces on the half furled sail were considerable. The pull on the clew from the sheets allowed the sail to unfurl partially and that part of the sail still furled tightened up on the foil/forestay. Pulling again on the furling line more than once led to a stable situation. Anyway , the sail ripped last year and the new genoa with its foam insert means that fewer adjustments need to be made in a strong blow.
