I tried to post this yesterday but it has vanished!!!!

I have a Sealine 310 which i have modified to get through the Glory Hole in Lincoln ( Lowered Airdraft from 10ft 6" to 8 ft 10".)

The plan is now to cruise to down the Witham to Boston and possibly out into the Wash for a couple of hours.

This will be the first time away from the inland waterways.

Is there anyone with experience of the Wash have any good info for me.

To present I have travelled the Trent numerous times but as i said earlier i have never ventured "out t sea"

As you go out of the river past tabs head it can sometimes seem a bit rough around high tide if there is a wind against the currents from both rivers, but it sometimesgets calmer further out. Around low tide this part can be really sheltered even when its windy, so it really depends on how far out you want to go, if you just want to go out to explore the sandbanks then maybe venture out around 3 hrs after high water

- Grande Sluice for locking - on the levels about 2 hours either side of HW - ensure you get the times off the lockkeeper & give him notice.
- The bar at Black Boy PHM passable 3 hrs either side of HW.
- Wind over tide from bar to Tabs Head can be nasty on springs.
- Beware of shifted banks not as charted in the Boston Deeps from Parlour Channel to Skegness. Be very cautious at LW.
- For a run over the low water, know your position & depth at all times till through the Freeman & into the Lynn Deeps. Always a sandbank to shelter behind if it chops up.
- Seals on Dogs Head near outer Parlour worth taking a look at.
- Safe place for cruising as long as aware & lots of wild life.
