My good lady and I decided that we should indulge in some research whilst also indulging in three favorite past times, boating, food and drink.

So we visited the Dog and Badger, slightly further from the river than I anticipated but a pleasant stroll. Pub is located on a busy road but we received a friendly welcome, good service and I have to say the hand cut chips were to die for.

Today we decided the Two Brewers at Marlow was to be our location for a late lunch. The outside mooring by the slipway was taken and I was unsure of the depth on the inside so we moored at the park and Strolled through the Church yard. An on foot inspection suggests the mooring had enough depth so will try that next time.

We received a nice welcome from a really friendly bunch of bar staff, SWMBO took Sunday Roast (Lamb) I went for the chefs grill and the little lad shocked us by asking for the beef burger :-)

We sat outside and the food arrived piping hot, well presented and the portions were more than sufficient, couple of beers and a coke and the price was £42 which seemed reasonable to me for Marlow and the quality of the food. We will definately visit again. Staff were always to hand even for the outside tables and was busy even at 3 PM for lunches. Inside restaurant looked nice and SWMBO wants to go again so food must have been good, she is known to be a tad fussier than me :-)

The Flower Pot Inn is our next jaunt, I mean research project, I think.

you mean I can't expense it to YBW damn /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Next time i am passing SWMBO says the Bacon sandwhiches are on us :-)

Not true why only the other day a neighbour caught me eating the grass in their front garden. She asked me what I was doing and I told her how hungry I was. She kindly sent me around the back of her house where the grass was longer.

Interested in visiting the Dog & Badger ourselves, even Steve the moorings chap at Fawley Meadow recommended it. (Mind you he might have been touting for us to visit Medmenham moorings)

Kept waving at you last week as we crossed paths a few times!

we took the the parents and uncle / aunt up to cookham this sunday and went to the Kings Arms for lunch. Have to say it was great value and really good food. We only had the one course and drink each (as they had spent most of the journey there drinking and eating anyway), but it only came to £68 for 6 people. Good sized proper freshly made portions, really friendly service and nice decor in there

Good to get a report on the Dog & Badger, it wasn't so good last year. We always use the Two Brewers if in Marlow and the King's Head in Cookham is generally good value too.

Not sure if you noticed us waving at you from Fawley Meadow on Friday, Mrs Nickcred waved back but probably only because we were waving!

Hi Apollo

Hope I waved back :-) I was suffering from a nasty cold so head was a bit fuddled lol....strangely I found that sitting on the bank with a cold glass of somthing helped a lot.
