Well everybody, today a Stinkie was successfully converted from Diesel power to wind power. He considers this drastic move to full blown yacht racing a necessary step towards his eventual acceptance into the Yachting society which he has longingly looked into for many months.

Welcome Solitaire the new raggie!

It is nice to have a convert for sure, but wait and see what he thinks about charging around southampton water on a sunday morning with the wind trying to lie the boat down!

Moose, with cruising buddies like you! Well, let me remind you, as a powerboater all my nauticall life, I felt it was time to appreciate some of the finer points of life! For many years I have toiled with the abject madness of those with cloth hanging above the deck. I thought it was time fo me to see the wonderous dexterity of a helmsman whoe's skill is basedon the "reading" of the wind rather than the sheer brute force and ignorance of those who must use the internal combumstion engine to give themselves a sence of freedom! Call me ACDC if you so wish, but the next Ihing is to to offer those less fortunate than ouselves who cam make the CI andback in a day to appreciate our kind off boating as well. I am looking forward to tomorrow vwery much. After all, its still boating

Won't I just laugh when I hear your stuck in some far flung place with a busted airplane, saying Oh I wish I had an airship! A dirigible even, then I could be home in tiime for tea! ...all you need now is a real initiation to the stinkie wars. It may come to you like this:-

It has been an exhausting but exhilarating days sailing. The wind has blown from six different directions, and everything from F1 to F6. When it wasn't raining the sun was so bright you couldn't see the tell tales. Now, at last, you are returning to your snug mooring, with a gentle breeze over the quarter and a glass of something cold and alcoholic begging to be consumed. Sunddenly, 25 knots of motor cruiser, shaped like an overblown hip-hop kid's trainer, blats past, trailing a wake that wouldn't disgrace a corvette chasing a U-Boat. You are tossed to the cockpit floor bruising your coccyx en-route, the boat does an involuntary gybe, and cool and alcoholic gurgles down the cockpit drain.

How fraternal is your greeting to the motabotah?

Ken, I'll let you know! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif But then I'll also regale you with how often you chaps piss us lot off too. Particularly when you don't hang your balls out, and think you have right of way 'cause your a "sail" boat! More harmony and understanding is required - from both sides - which is why I'm relishing the oportunitity. Just hope I don't let them down! /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

La Difference

Best comparison I've seen was applied to gliding and power flying, but it works for sailing too. It's the difference between rape and seduction.

Never realized that you had to" hang your balls out"to claim right of way.

Maybe thats why so many mobos cut across my bows.

Think he meant cone whilst motorsailing!!! thats another stinkie that doesnt understand the colregs...what chance do we really have...thankfully the Clyde and west coast not too infested yet...and those that are here pretty understanding...of course there is always the odd exception to the rule.

I surprised you lot know! While out racing today we were cut up by a yacht under power! I saw it with my own eyes! Anyway, most of you lot never put anything in the rigging! And that is a statement from both a harbour master and a Red Jet Ferry captain!! /forums/images/icons/wink.gif You are clearly an exception so I'll look out for your inverted triangle then shall I?/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
