in praise of lowland sailing - and human mortality

dylan

the visuals if I can call them that are fabulous and remind me why, of all the sailing areas I have been in, I like the east coast the most ( and yes I know thats not the start sequence!). and the music is great - I have dire straits on my mp3 player.

but apart form the opening sequence with the mountains, they dont go together. you need piccies of the aftermath of african wars to go with the dialogue not seagulls!

that said I have put the clip in my bookmarks for the visuals alone.

thanks for liking the film

you are right about the imagesnot being right

although I detect the mind of a scientist there

I guess I was hoping to create the sort of reverie you drop into when drifting

it is when the mind moves around

and to use the images from my hard disks

it will be intersting to see what happens to the hit rate over the weekend

never been there

Great stuff, Dylan.
You're getting quite Shakespearean in your prologues.

However I'm glad the pics all missed out on the Med and concentrated on (mainly) the Broads and E Coast.

I have never sailed in warm clear water in my life

the med does look lovely

but I assume that after you have sailed in perfect conditions then the UK experience might be dimished in some way

I really do not like it when it is hot at night on the boat

and insects can really take the edge off an experience

then there is the sound of the beach front bar keeping you awake

melted butter

the waft of garlic

crowded anchorages and stern to mooring

as my dad said

"count your blessings"

and the Uk is a wonderful place to sail

the first shots were from the ferry in new Zealand when I was working over there for a few months and I was feeling a little home-sick

UK waters might be cold and murky in places but the locals are lovely, they all speak your language, no-one ever asks you for paperwork and us brits are generally very polite.

all round we do live in a great place to sail

I am looking forward to getting to Scotland

not looking forward to all those miles up and back in the polo though
