We have the Bamar behind mast Mainsail furling system. Has worked fine for years without ever jamming until .... Last used in a bit of a blow. Now is jammed. Mechanism appears okay. I'm guessing that we applied insufficient tension on the outhaul line when last re-furling. Now cannot get more than one turn unfurled before its stuck fast. Please, any ideas on how to resolve.......

I've said this before on this forum - try standing for'ard of the mast, facing aft. and place one hand on each side of the bit of mainsail that's showing. Press your palms together and push them aft, thus pulling the sail out of the mast. It sounds too simple but it's a lot more effective than heaving hard on the unfurling line.

Had similar problems. Bamar's agents have advised that the sail should be furled off the wind rather than head to wind as this tends to cause creasing. Must say since following their advice sail furls much easier and so far no problems in getting it out
