Some of you will have seen just how frustrated I've been recently, by the poor quality of some items from yacht chandlers, and specifically their stainless steel fasteners. This evening, I received a telephone call from the owner of Force4 Marine. It was a VERY useful call, for both parties I believe. He was able to explain how their supply chain works, and so how this can happen. He was obviously VERY concerned about how things were, regarding both the quality of the items, AND my problems trying to make myself heard by the company.

Credit where its due Force 4.

I've heard it said that there's no point complaining about such things, but its important guys, that when we purchase something we're not happy with, that we make it known to the people that can actually DO something about it. On this occasion I perceived, and my complaints finally made it to the top.

I always seem to receive very good service from Force 4. Several times recently I've searched for boaty stuff online from places like eBay and Amazon and Force 4 have been cheaper, particularly when I can pick it up at their store in Bristol.

Yes. Their guys 'n gals there are of that rare stock - they go the extra mile for answers 'n solutions. That's worthy of encouragement..... both in here, and by dint of wallet.

Cannot complain its as you order delivered as described and to be fair good and polite service.

SWMBO is very generous and occasionally buys things for the boat - usually from Force 4 at Bristol. If an item is not quite right for whatever reason (size, colour, material etc) they are always willing to give an exchange or refund. So I too find they give excellent service. They are also very helpful at the Plymouth branch where I also shop.

It seems to nbe human nature to be more inclined to complain when it is necessary. It is just as important to compliment when justified.

I recently ordered from Force 4 for the first time online, one of the items was out of stock (not shown on the website) after ordering I recieved an email informing me of this.
I was a bit annoyed, but can't fault them on keeping me updated.
In general, I found their staff very friendly and helpful, which alone makes me want to shop with them again.

The Chichester Donnington team are consistently helpful too. We were in there last Sunday pm for a lighter weight tender, and fancied the O2 Lite, which won over two other options because of 'proper' rowlocks, not spikes.

One of their regular staff first dug out the smaller size and inflated it for SWMBO & I to see, then found the larger size when we settled that was what we needed, plus the pair of adjustable jackstays we couldn't find-in plain sight by the LJ bits. Even tried hard to carry it to the car for me-I must have been looking more like the Ancient Mariner than ever after our friends wedding party the night before:cool::o???

PS, anyone want to buy a Tinker Tramp:D

I've used them a lot over a long period now - they're consistently excellent and very good at sorting out whatever problems do occur. The chap in their Swansea branch is a real gem as well.
