In Burham!

After a brief trip south we have ended up in Burnham Yacht Harbour for a couple of nights. We are currently sat on the hammerhead right by the entrance. Trip was good with the wind near enough on the nose for a lot of the time but we still managed to sail or motor sail quite a bit. Decent meal in the Swallowtail on site. Interested in any suggestions for placed to eat in town if anyone cares to share.

If you like TexMex, fajitas or just good steaks, Sgt. Peppers offers good food and is excellent value. Evn better if you get seated early for dinner on a weekday as there is a percentage reduction (?10%) on all food. The Thai restaurant (forget the name) upstairs above the late lamented Raven autospares shop is also very good if you like Thai cooking. Te Ship offersmeals to the high standard always found ihn Adnams houses. All these 3 on the high street

RCYC, RBYC and CYC also do food and are always keen to welcome visiting yachtsmen. Check which days they do food and don't let the Royal tag for the first two mntioned put you off. The best value (and well kept) beer in the town is to be found in these clubs.

The town has a whole host more eateries, as a Burnham resident for 17 years, I still haven't tried them all, but the above have been good throughout that period (Thai place praps a couple of years newer).

One can recommend the epicurean delights of the Oyster Smack. Not cheap, but very very good.

Spice Fusion Indian is cheap and excellent value with their buffet all you can eat.

Home made curry and best beer in town at the Queens Head.

The Thai is good, but pricey.

The share for two at Sgt Peppers is excellent huge value at £25.95. Don't bother with starters.
 
+1 for The Oyster Smack, went there on Sat as the Swallowtail was full. Easy walk from the marina, excellent grub at (I thought) a reasonable price with very pleasantly attentive service. Price for two was £44 inc drinks, two mains, pre-starters, and pud, and would have been more expensive for worse food at my local, the Anchor in Row'edge...
 
Wed evening is Dick and Hilary cooking at Burnham Sailing Club. (1st one you come to along the sea wall). Vast quantities of good home cooked food for not a lot of money. Cheap drinks!

It is excellent value and great to see the club buzzing.
Daughter and granddaughters sail on Weds evenings and complain that the catering is so popular that all the food is gone by the time the sailors come ashore. They reckon it's become a pensioners dining club, seves them right they should sail faster

we like the rio tapas bar. we always manage to eat ourselves to a standstill for not a lot and if you fancy lunch on a sunny day the garden is great. its on the high street nearly opposite the Baptist church

Just been. Decent selection of beers plus a couple of ciders. Also had a great meal at Sgt Peppers beforehand. Back on board watching the sun go down. Doesn't get a lot better :cool:
