Impulse buy.

I was in a "dépôt/vente" of marine things and saw a Tohatsu 2.5 hp 2 stroke O/b motor, new, for about £335. Having heard that 2-strokes are being phased out, I bought it as it was the last one out of a lot of 30.

Was it the right thing to do?

John, not bad. I bought a Tohatsu 3.3 lsat year for about 375 sterling which seemed good. Nice and reliable too. Started second pull last week after winter..

Yours seems like a good deal John by French pricing standards. They had a 3.5hp for about £470 (695 €)

I had a lovely day on Wednesday at the Yacht Parts (Plymouth) 20% discount sale. I went with a carefully prepared shopping list of all the items I required and the least prices I could expect to pay from mail order chandleries - £86.
I met several friends there, enjoyed the small eats ( but not the wine as I was driving), and ended up paying £162.
In addition to my shopping list I bought a VHF radio which I'm very pleased with. My existing old radio, which had been new, wouldn't accept an NMEA input from the GPS, the TX button failed on the first occasion of use, and the on/off switch was permanently on.
