Girvan now has 35 new berths!
You have no excuse for not visiting now. Just get the tide right at the bar.

They are on both sides of the harbour- including along the wall below the lock-ups. Hopefully too flimsy for the fishing boats! (which usually moor to the seaward side of this area anyway)
I don't know if they did any more dredging or not, but the bottom is exceedingly soft mud.
HM Roddy is a gent and very helpful.

A useful intermediate port for heading South towards NI or IOM or indeed for those approaching the Clyde

I recommend the chip shop just at the harbour, on the corner.

Went in there a couple of years ago because the queue was long, the wife did not fancy deep fried food in thick batter so she ordered a pizza. Guess what?
They did not take trousers or pyrotechnics at that time either.

Did she get a deep fried Mars Bar Pizza?

No it was enough that it was battered and deep fried to a crisp.

When we were getting our roof done the scaffolders were appalled to see that my wife was giving me a feta cheese salad; when the apprentice came back from the chippy across the canal with their lunch, be brought me a deep fried Mars bar which I had to consume while they stood around awaiting my approval, it was the sickliest sweetest thing I have ever eaten and I would not like to have to repeat it. My comment was- 'thanks, lovely, bit sweet isn't it!'

Where is the Coastguard office? I hear that is the place in Girvan to drop off expired pyrotechnics - aka flairs!

EDIT:

North side of the harbour.
If going by road head toward the golf course and turn left after the bridge, keep going past Alexander Nobles shipyard. CG shed is further round on the left (harbour) side.
They accept flares Sunday lunchtime or by arrangement.

.... and what better way to open the new facility than combining it with the launch of a St Ayles skiff built by the local school, supported by members of the community:
