Importing Mercruiser engines

Has anybody had any experiences of importing Mercruiser engines from the USA.
The recommended cost for a Mercruiser 135 in the states is $5,300 dollars + tax.The list price in this country is £6,500 + vat.

A discount is offered in the states, bringing the cost down even further.

I know that the draw back to importing is that you are dealing with a company 3000 miles away and also the engine will possibly not be covered by a waranty in this country.

Dealer price for a Mercruiser 140HP, on an Alpha 1 Drive with Instruments and prop is £3,500.00. You need to find a Dealer that will do you a deal, I paid £3,750.00 for the last one that I bought.
