I'm going through this at the moment, I got a bit carried away when I was on holiday and purchased an Angler 204 FX, when I got home the penny dropped and I'm now trying to sort everything out.
So for me there's two issues, the RCD and towing;
RCD, the boat isn't certified so I need to sort that out, I got in touch with a company that can help with that and they are going to carry out the tests and prepare all of the documentation, it will set me back about £1,250 plus VAT but with the exchange rate being as it is I can live with that, we have to do a some on the water tests to check the outboard noise and also have a number of people get on the boat to check loading but mostly its a paper trail.
The thing that I'd like help with is towing and if its possible to make a US braked trailer road legal for the UK as I'd like to avoid forking out another £2k or £3k on a new trailer, I've been Googling all night and am still none the wiser on what would be needed to do a conversion or if its even possible, secondly the boat beam is 2.55m which is over the 2.3m limit, I'm sure I've seen wider things being towed, is there a legal way to tow this boat with a Mitsubishi L200.
