How is it enforced? I understand that it is only relevant when selling the boat?
As others have said it is relevant when you bring the boat in. It is enforced like any law. You seem strangely interested in how to bypass the laws of the country and also how to save a few quid.

Here is an offer that I urge you to take: block my profile and stop commenting on my thread.
Thanks.

‘Your thread” ? You have asked questions on a public forum owned by YBW and now as you don’t like the advice - ie trying to circumvent the law may not be the best way forward you become belligerent, well done. Happy New Year.

If stated your budget and boat choice and engine , some one on here might be selling or know someone who is ? Save a lot of shit, but you have to be polite!.

You both seem to have issues!!!.
The fact is yourself and many others on here have givern South Wales some very good advice and this is the second occasion he has simply not listened at all!
Firstly he wants 25% discount to become a dealer to buy one boat for himself. ( some dealers are on a lot more than that but that another matter.) Then he wants to get round vat/ tax from Switzerland towing at 10m boat behind a Ford Galaxy! What is going on here! Pre covid or post covid , new boat prices will continue to rise and continue to sell. Used prices on most brands are definitely rising rapidly and will also continue sell, purely based on. demand. We don't need to discount on a large level. When I worked for Sunseeker the motto was " if you have to ask me how much is, you can't afford it "

Yeah I thought that too, then I asked and hey, found out I could. Snotty cretinous attitude that. Those that made money didn't do so by being frivolous and those that say that are usually the waiter's to the pundits and high table and without a brass farthing to rub between their arse cheeks.
Not that I'm siding with South Wales here but your own attitude could relax some.

I understand that and agree , I been in this business along time , and I am very lucky to get paid and run a business and build something I that have a huge passion for within my sector of boat business.

Look I understand where the hostility is coming from. I have started 2 proper threads in the last few days and the dealers have been barking at every corner, unsurprisingly. It is a zero sum game and I do not hide the very obvious that I want to trim their margins at the very least. Their attitude (and private messages I have been receiving) has now convinced me to cut them out alltogether. See if I aim to own 5 to 6 boats in the next 40 years, 25 per cent fees per leg add up significantly.

Now until the EU rules on this market manipulation as they have done with car dealers I will stay out of the new boat market.
My advice to anyone looking for a new boat, say built in Poland, is to reach out to dealers all the way from here to Poland. I can tell you for a fact that 4 out of 5 French dealers I reached out to will respond to an RFQ enthusiastically.
Then comes the question of VAT (a structuring question that can be legally optimised away from the grip of dealers), transport, insurance, financing....again key is to break away from the oligopoly.

Last question remaining is warranty. It sounds like a hit or miss. Golden handcuffs as we say in my trade. I am guessing discounting it's value to 0 at this stage is the way to go.

Again, not looking for moral support here, just technical knowledge. 0 interest in dealing with UK dealers at this stage. Happy to transact privately or importing from abroad.

Good advice. None of those are difficult even with all the new importation paperwork (there's always ways around that with a bit of imagination).
But why not just buy straight from the manufacturer? Save a few bob on dealers who don't seem to be adding any value

Smaller builders like Rhea would sell direct.
Larger outfits like Beneteau, Axopar, etc.... are manipulating prices by market purchase parity, and will keep doing so until fined by the EU competition authority.

Take a polish-built Jagram pergolas by way of example. A Leto Pergola is offered by UK retailers, who do not hold any stock whatsoever, for £1,500 (non-negotiable). Delivery is 6-8 weeks straight from the Polish factory to your house.
Now you can order directly from Poland yourself for £475 RRP equivalent in zloty (from any garden centre selling online) and pay around £150 extra in shipping and get it at about the same time.
