Despite huge efforts by a considerable workforce applied to this project, over recent weeks in particular , we need to extend the official closure period until Tuesday 10th March.
Please see below for the reason and also information about a short term passage window facility we have managed to arrange, preferable only for those who urgently need it during tomorrow morning.
For the latter we would ask for a call to be made direct to the Romney lock office on 01753 860296 – and prior to any intended movement.
May I ask you to circulate this immediately to all of your members.

An extract from an internal note to our Waterways staff and communications team;-
Whilst the main contractor has today completed their works our colleague Operations Management team fitting specialists need the extra time to re-connect everything required for safe and reliable use of the public power mode.
We are able to offer a short term passage window tomorrow morning between 10-12 – which will be under lock keeper power and supervision.
Some delays can be expected from normal but this is the best we can offer – it has been created at the particular request of the local large charter boat firms who need to move some vessels towards dry dock bookings.
We will provide this information on the blackboards at as many locks leading in both directions to Romney as soon as possible today.
