Absolutey correct. I have no problem with anyone having political views but I'm always wary of discussing them in open forum. Too many friendships have been ruined that way. Time to Kimmerise.

as a relative newcomer to this site i am disapointed to read all this political talk.
however, can we remember the recent thatcher years, i can. i had no work, my house was nearly re-possesed, my kids went without.
at present, inflation is very low, unemployment is low and people feel confident enough to borrow compared with the previous goverment.
oh and dont give me all that about corrupt mp`s. the Tory lot had their fare share.
NOW CAN WE GET BACK TO ALL THINGS NAUTICAL... PLEASE.
Ahhhhhhhhhh !

They were ended 14 years ago. I don't call that very recent. May 1997 is a lot closer. Still, perhaps the "Blunkett years" are now gone.

We all like to grind an axe or three and have a frequent pop at our own personal Aunt Sallys, but is it posible to mebbe secrete a barbed comment or two in something vaguely boaty which will make us all smile even tho we may not agree with the sentiment expressed.Although some posters here have strong views on political stuff, many are able to get their points across with an ironic sentence or two./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
If your fed up about political talk. Why not post an interesting boaty story like many of us "Old Guard" have done in the past. Just because we have run out of worth while topics does not stop you contributing.
Without Margaret Thatcher this country would have been joining the third world. Instead she put in in the position that we enjoy now.
Then and now house prices did get to rediculous prices. But neither Margret nor Tony said that you had to go out and buy what you could ill afford. Jobs come and go, it's a fact of modern life. If you new my checkered career course, you would have a heart attack!!

well we've all got our own views, no need to be personal, how can you possibily judge a person or their career from a few lines, yes im involved with hlb but would say this anyway.
i don't have any problem with discussing politics or whatever, wherever, but lets not get out of hand and too personal. hey its nearly xmas be happy... oh hell the
relatives ! its nearly upon us
<hr width=100% size=1>deborah on delft.
Nothing to do with Mucky Farter or hlb in drag
What Haydn is referring to, though he is quite modest at times, is that he has provided some of the most amusing boating stories on these forums, and now that well has drawn a little dry, it would be nice if other could contribute the same.
His point, with which I agree, and he has stated before, is that if you don't like the non boaty stuff, don't read it, and provide some epic tales of boating to keep the rest of amused. You must have a few?
