Now the problem is. Should she be Mucky Farter battleing her way through all sorts of eliments, with a fair bit of history. Exploding toilets, sinking and the rest. Not forgetting smoke. But she is quite famous and has been just about every where in the known world.

Or should she be Meekatharra. ( A place of little water) Spent most times on Windermere. (not quite true.)

She's got about 1800 hours, but works like clockwork, if a little slower.

Just what is expected. The rathion thingy works, But chart plotter only around Plymouth. You can still use the chart plotter. But have to enter in lat and long. Which works well with the aoto pilot. Else you just ues the garmin

Just what is expected of a 20 year old boat, does every thing have to work.

Not everything works on 2 year old boats most of the time!
Don't think about swallowing the sea anchor and 'retiring' to Wideremere etc.
If you do
A Van will arrive with Men in white coats before you last a season.
By all means sell MF but purchase a newer replacement maybe.
If you do sell, someone in Plymouth maybe?!!

Not everything has to work, but it all has to be as clean as it can be, as anything that looks less than pukka will repel the ladies.

Think boat show: Punters go there, they can't afford what they see, but they want the same thing for a lot less money - so give it to them!

Hi hlb, I just sold my 20 yr old boat and not everything worked but I was honest in the description and was asking a fair price, the new owner will no doubt have to budget to repair and place failed items.

as said - hardly a boat in the world with EVERYTHING working at once. That would be a ridiculous expectation if not downright fantasy. Unfortunately some folks new to boating really do imagine that everything works so if you have a first time buyer they may be put off, but anybody experienced will take it as read.

Get on ebay and find a chart for the area you now find yourself in, in fact you can have the one you have updated to your area. From what we read you are "attached" to her so the link should not be broken just because she has taken up smoking and does'nt where she is going. Ours is 25 years old but would swop her for one of the plastic things they are making today, and a "proper" one is way out of financial reach.

I am just getting over the shock, but I suspect this may another of his, "I am not going to get any more burgees made, so yoose can all go a **** yourselves" posts.

I expect Kawasaki is making his way over to Haydn right now, to borrow the price of a bottle of swig, to present back to him to drink and mull over things.

20 years? TWENTY YEARS! TWENTY YEARS?

She's a mere baby, but of course not everything works, - how long is it since everything worked on YOU, never mind MF?

Sea Rush is 37, but by staying low tech, most of her stuff works, altho I had to chuck my original GPS after 20 years. I may need to get new valves for the steam radio soon, and the bog has been refurbished. But I love her & she looks after me. Is MF any different? Or are you one of those people who ditches the faithful wife for a new model every few years?

Must admit, I'm a bit surprised by some of the answers to this posting. Things go wrong and you fix them, why wouldn't you?
I wonder from the statement that "there is hardly a boat in the world with EVERYTHING working at once" whether this is representative of the boating community or whether I'm on my own in saying everything on my 8 year old S37 works!
I've found if you don't keep up with repairs things soon gets out of hand.

Nah, only got a wonkey rev counter and a log upstairs that gone dim.

Part of the reason for thinking of selling is, I'm no longer fit to mend her myself and I'm totaly sick of menders not turning up or telling lies. I've gone through five round Conwy in the last two years and cant find another one. It's not as though they dont get paid. Most dont bother to turn up.

Ones been mending the auto pilot for the last three months. He took the broken bit away a month ago, aint heard from him since.
