Most odd. On the sports cruisers I've had, the windscreen always steamed up with the canopy closed

I think you have totally missed one of the sports boat experiences Mike,
On a long passage when it turns a bit choppy (read as GF 3 and above for sports boats) and cold you don water proofs and stand up with your torso and head sticking out of the closed canopy.
All your crew are nice and warm as they slide around a bit like kids in a bouncy castle or they retire to the velour coffin to experience a sort of weightlessness in an attempt to sit down but spending half the time levitating.
Of course you still experience the waves smashing into your face one after another, ice cold water then trickles down your neck, beer gut that overhangs the obligatory shorts and into your rollocks, that is just so refreshing and so sociable too /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
