JD, the reefing pennants emerge from the sheaves, up to the cringles, then down to the boom, round it through a hoop under the boom and up through the crinkle in the foot,of the sail, then made off against itself (standard slab reef?). When it's time to reef, the arrangement ensures that tension, both down and out, is kept in the clew end. Works for me!

Ah, right, thanks. I have no 'oles in the foot of me sail, so I didn;t see that possibility.
