I\'m not sure it would have been possible without you guys

I have been trying to go to sleep...
all I can think about is the support i have received from you guys after my adventure. and I cannot come down from the high......
I sat out in Neuiwpoort waiting for the wind to abate....and it didnt...and as i have done many times when i was at Lowestoft decided to poke my nose out and try it....
I had forecasts coming out of me ears...i include those that indicate wave height...and some were not being kind....
on leaving the entrance I managed to get to my comfortable speed of 20 kts with a sea that was not comfortable. but with no slamming i kept going...20 miles off....the sea started to go flat.....there must have been a good shower to fill those holes....and it stayed flat ALL the way across......i was a little concerned at the fog to my south but i seemed to be beating it....
my plan, as you know was to cross using slack water as much as possible.....
It worked....FLAT seas for most of the journey home.

top that with getting to Harwich....deciding that i would have a beer to celebrate.....many of you know my opinion on drinking at sea.......as i was getting the beer my mobile rang.....CliveG asking my whereabouts......now i have someone who will collect my lines at Ipswich...

in fact the phone didnt stop ringing....Mr FC, Andy ( a Chelsea buddy) a friend at home who I had given my plans to....

I am so high on having done all of this single handed....i should be speachless....look out anyone that meets me in the next few weeks....i WILL BORE you....

I just wish i hadnt screwed up with that filler cap

and a MEGA MEGA thanks to all that sent constructive messages...you know who you are.....without you i would have got the train home and left Still Dunno where she was....and that brings me to think of my good friend Northshore without whom I might have given up boating...(god rest his soul)....I KNOW he would have been proud of what I have achieved...

a MASSIVE thanks to ALL....well there might be one...
cant be bovvered......

I took some pics on the way back....to follow.....

You deserve to be pleased, that's an achievement!

Nice to remember 'Northshore' very sad but he'd be pleased for you too.

Well done, looking forward to pics. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

very well done. it does take a bit of nerve, the first solo trip, but the feeling of sucess is fab. the first time i took "Thanks mum" from portsmouth to cowes and back, singlehanded, felt like i could take on all the severn seas. dont worry about boring people, one persons boring tale is anothers mine of information. great post!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice one Doug! Single-handing *and* photos?!? Is there nothing the man can't do /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: I\'m not sure it would have been possible without you guys

Doug,

Glad to hear you are back safe with many tales to tell.

I know the feeling I have had when i been single handed in my small Firth of water!
Everything I do is newish but even an old sea dog like you can still be proud of over coming all the challanges on this trip!

Speak to you soon

Re: I\'m not sure it would have been possible without you guys

Harsh, given that Doug probably only went x-channel because he was looking forward to an unexpectedly free evening on Wednesday. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Its not easy taking pics at 22 Kts in a mobo so I only managed a few
