Well we had a few days away, went down last Friday night, friends arrived first thing Saturday, went over to Cowes, stayed at Island Harbour (where we were spotted by epierver), we had 7 seater car delivered by our very friendly car hire company and explored island. Had meal in The Breeze Bistro at IH, this place has had numerous owners and different chefs over the years but all I can say is it is really good right at the moment, I know a load of people in the past have had terrible food & service, but honestly the guys there were brilliant. Our friends stayed at a nice B&B in Newport Saturday night and bought them back to Hamble Sunday afternoon. Met Howard/Z1ppy and he showed me over Aviator... it really is a wow boat, the most ridiculous 37ft'er around. But I think I hid my jealously quite well!

then off to Yarmouth Monday.. the Hamble on bank holiday Monday was always going to be busy & the sea scouts wanted some action so they decided to row in the middle of the main channel I took this photo when they had moved over slightly, must have been exciting!

Yarmouth as we arrived pretty busy, but really thinned out.. seabird on walk-ashore as usual..

Tuesday needed to do a little shopping in Lymington so stopped over in Berthons for a couple of hours (nice peeps didn't even charge), but they did put us somewhere that made me feel even smaller than normal... (look at the whopper in the back ground)

Then left to go to Beaulieu... thought I would take a little video for a bit of fun.. sorry, no commentary.. must apologise now to SteveD, weather was lovely while we were away! just to prove for all those that look at my Hardy tugboat and think it must be as slow as a snail...

saw this boat on the way up the Beaulieu river and took a pic, made me smile when I saw epervier report as he had pictured the same boat... I think we might just have similar taste!

Then what about this at the bottom of your garden...

Beaulieu very quiet, went into marina, walked to the village Tuesday afternoon, and dingy'ed up Wednesday for lunch at Monty's.

returned to Hamble yesterday, left around 10am, gusting F6 and springs wind over tide.. still kept up 17knots... no commentary until my daughter starts to worry about my coffee mug! but a rather different trip to the earlier video! :D

Great selection of pictures and vids - did not recognise the conditions in the first vid, but was reassured by the second. I did note your momentary distraction to check that the beer was still ok in its holder :)

sounds like a lovely break. thanks for sharing!

didnt notice the jealousy but Mrs Zippy and i commented on how incredibly polite your daughter was! such a nice change to so many who hide behind their parents!

dont think i have seen the solent that flat for a long time!!

thanks again for the shore power cable! its being put to good use already!!

see you soon

Thanks Howard, really kind of you to say. Not around this weekend, trying to get a pass out for next weekend. Would be nice to have a beer sometime ! :)

the solent was like a mirror, it certainly would have been a chance to see if you could have got to max speed in Aviator... how are the niggly trim / edc issues going...?

Progress hopefully. Trim was a dodgy relay. Gear selector cable has been changed as cause of main fault so hopefully ok for this weekend.

Fresh water system is work in progress and heating should be sorted tomorrow morning when Part is fitted!

Maybe around next weekend also depending on weather and dog sitters!

you will get there, but in the meantime she doesn't look a too bad! ;):D

BTW, just thinking of your trim cleaning, including grey sections. I would try Cillit Bang grime & lime ( ignore the terrible adverts, it is bloody good), spray on, work over a bit with a washing up brush or scrubing brush, leave for a 30 seconds to a minute and wash off. Does burn your hands a bit, so rinse off or wear gloves! Will clean your white seats up like new as well.... sad really, I've been thinking the best way to get them clean, but at least I admit I have a cleaning OCD

Oi FF625, it seems that you shouldn't really be so envious of my videos...! :)
Great report indeed, thanks for taking the time to prepare it and post it.

hi firefly......GREAT REPORT N PICIES...........................................you know i,ve asked this question before, BUT, yet AGAIN where oh where do you keep your PERSONAL smooth seas supply ????????????????

LOL, would you believe that it's rainy down here at the moment, and the wind blowing from the harbour entrance is strong enough to make my rather heavy boat pitch half a meter or so...? :(
...Not that I can complain too much, anyway. These conditions are actually pretty rare! :D

Fri/Sat was better than expected in the Solent, but the next few days will be a good time to brush up on knitting, collision regulations and knots :(

Thanks for posting this, Firefly 625. Brought back many happy memories of our time in the Solent

I do wish people wouldn't post pix of Seamark V:
