I\'m looking for a webbing snapshackle...

..well that's about the best description for it.

Made by Wichard but not stocked by any of the on-line chandlers - as far as I can see.

I've also tried Baseline, Makefast.com and sprayhood.com

It is used (or at least before going OTS) on the ends of bimini front support straps to attach to deck eyes and looks like a spring snapshackle married to a bar to take 25mm webbing.

Any ideas?

Steve

My bimini has the Swivel eye boat snaps page 23 Baseline the webbing has to be folded to pass through the eye or you could use the nylon Snap Hook page 25 or the s/s snap hook on the same page

The one on our bimini straps has a round eye about 15mm dia for our 25mm straps. I bought 2 new ones for about £3 ea last weekend in LYC in Lymington as the old ones were corroded and we have just fitted all new (expensive!) canvas. Otherwise I have bought Wichard stuff via Quay West Chandlers in Poole (Pete) on 01202 742488 and they have ordered for me, 7 days delivery approx.

Well spotted!

Part No T6705 for the SS. Nylon too weak for our giant bimini.

Thanks

Thanks. We have two cast ones which have corroded on the sprayhood. Theses were O?
/E on the bimini too but I changed them to SS Wichard but have unfortunately lost one. I can't see the part in the Wichard catalogue although it is stamped with their name.

Second thoughts.....

That is held together by a SS plate being bent over the ends of some SS wire. i think it will be too weak for the weight & windage of the bimini. The originals were much heavier.

thanks anyway.

Wichard part number is 2284...

See <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wichard.com/catalogue/catalogue_en.php?FAMILLE=8.0&SSFAMILLE1=5.0&SSFAMILLE2=0&SSFAMILLE3=0>here</A>. You're right, it's quite a strong item.
