I\'m feeling braver now

I'm off in a week's time for 2 weeks sailing in Turkey with Setsail with my husband and two teenage sons. Although I've done a bit of sailing since this time last year (when we were on another flotilla holiday) I haven't skippered a boat, been in charge, made all the decisions etc... and I was getting really nervous.

But I've just spent the last few hours with my Turkish Waters pilot book, the charts and my hand held GPS, entered all the waypoints I'll probably need, read the pilot book, and feel a bit more relaxed about it all.

It's probably a good thing to feel apprehensive, do you think, to keep me on my toes.

Totally agree. The sea is a dangerous place, but the danger is in inverse proportion to the amount of preperation and experience.

be really interest in hearing how your holiday was afterward - I spent 2 weeks in Greece last year and have been considering giving Turkey a try.

Your comments about your charter company would also be appreciated.

Good sailing.

Gary, having sailed in many parts of Greece, and then Croatia, we went to Turkey last year and loved it. We preferred it to anywhere else we had sailed in the Med, the winds, the people, the food, everything really. So we're going back again, sailing a different route this time.

We sail in Turkey with Setsail, a small private company who seem to have got everything just right.
