I\'m fed up of this [--word removed--]

Yet another article in MBM about how all the pieces of our precious boats are going to rot and fall off !! Bloody galvanic this and isolation that, anodes, cathodes, etc.

Well I'm fed up of this [--word removed--]. I think there's a conspiracy going on here.

I don't think the marine industry wants us to have galvanic free boating and antifoul that works (That's another thing that's getting on my tits!!) They want us to be dependent on their treatments. None of them wants to show us a cure. They thrive on us getting lifts, cleaning & painting bottoms, replacing anodes, repairing bits that accidently became anodes, etc, etc, etc ! (And don't forget that tw-t GB increases our misery and gets a donation every time)

It's just like the pharmaceutical business. Are they interested in cures ? Christ NO ! They want us to spend years on treatments. They don't want us to die because there's not much profit in dead. But they certainly don't want us cured !!

How many years ago did man go to the moon ?
All this stuff is only science for goodness sake !
For the good of all boaters please somebody outside the boat service industry come up with a cure !!

I was told once that they had an effective insecticide that would rid New York of all cockroaches, but the manufacturers got cold feet as they rely on ongoing sales of 'temporary' solutions to keep them in business.

I reckon its the EU that doesn't want A/F that works, but that might be because it gets VAT revenue each time you need more. After all, its supposed to kill marine growths yet the EU want "environmentally friendly biocides".

Go figure:)

You wouldn't believe how close that is to the truth but it was in fact for rats not 'roaches.

The preparation, which is a target specific virus (worse tha 'mixi' for rabbits) is under lock and key in a secret safe like the chip and hand parts of Scwarzenigger's terminator! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Fair old rant from petrolia! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

It\'s raining? Blame the EU!

I've heard a variety of reasons why the EU is to be blamed as the root of all our problems, but this is a new one.
Personally, I don't know whether it makes sense for the environment not to use certain kinds of A/F.
But I suppose there are chemists and other specialists which made tests for that.
Either their conclusions were right or wrong, again I don't know.
But I can't see how they might be wrong for the English sea and right for the French sea...?

Err - the mags are just a business - what do you expect. They exist soley for one function - so advertisers can sell their stuff to us, and then pay the mags for the column inches! All mags are bound collections of adverts be they camera mags, boatey mags, computer mags, ladies mags, etc. Editorial and content exists for the advertisers not the readers, that's just the publishing industry.

While I'm fully aware of all of this I still like to read the mags occaisionally I find some interesting and informative cruise articles. Hate the reviews though cause they are never reviews really are they, not like some of the US hard hitting mags that like "top gear" are prepared to say it as it is rather than politelty recommend a "best buy". But clearly there is a market for this cycle of readers paying to read well packaged adverts, goods and services. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Err, why not have every single structural part of your next boat manufactured from titanium. Everything. Shafts and props included. It will still need its bottom cleaned etc, but no galvanic issues and no need to paint. Need Gigacash to pay for it though.
(Just joking)

The only cure for Galvanic corrosion is to either not use any metal in a wet environment, or make everything from Gold or Platinum. The first is not realistic to my knowledge, with current composite technology, the second may well be possible, but how much do you want your boat to cost? and you can just imagine how long it would be before someone pinched your prop if it was made of gold /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
