Phew! Just about anyway...

Our longest ever trip started on Friday 24th May, with a clean fuelled boat and lots and lots of food and drink. We headed down to Staines, where we picked up our fave mooring spot (Public mooring just above the bridge) where we met up with some other Bray members and had a very chilled evening.

Next day we wandered gently down to Hampton court, and frollocked with the Deer, and had another chilled evening...

Monday morning saw us heading down to Limehouse with the remainder of the club, although just one night, but what a night! the local Thai did not deliver for once, poor service mainly, so we paid part of the bill and departed back to the boats for anoth...oh you guessed!

Tuesday was the biggie for us, first time past the Barrier, and all was well until the speed limit ended, as our Starboard engine overheated at anything over 2000rpm, which limited us to just 16kts, and so we joined the slow group further downstream, and we arrived at Chatham at around 18:30.

Not much in Chatham, but again, the next morning we nosed down to Rochester and moored alongside some dodgy looking old boats (One in particular caught our eye) and headed to the nearest spit and sawdust establishment for some good old British fayre!

Whilst on the pontoon, Fifty Shades previous owner came up and knocked on the window, saying 'Excuse me, I hope you don't mind me coming over, but this is my old boat!' I wasn't at all unhappy, as he was the one person in the world who could give me a little background info on the overheating possibilities, and indeed he left me with loads of info, and I attacked the impeller pipe, finding nothing, but strangely sorting out the problem!?

Some old drunk guy kept approaching us in the Rochester spit-and sawdust place, saying 'No Regrets, No Regrets' so we bought him a few more drinks, and he kept away after that....:p Funnily enough, it turned out to be Oldgit, or at least everybody said 'look at that oldgit over there' so it may have been...and his Wife nearly clumped him when he introduced us to 'My Mother' He really has got a death wish...

Two days and a tour of Rochester later, we had to return to London, but tides weren't perfect and we stopped over at the Queenborough lighter for a nice little BBQ, and then hit the incoming tide. Although the overheat had gone, I now appeared to have a fuel blockage, and so we trundled along at 18kts this time, and still made it to St Kats half an hour before lock-in, so enjoyed an intersting half hour moored up on the inside of the pontoon outside! Ouch... :(

Once in St Kats, I pulled a fuel feed pipe, and found the dreaded bug, so applied liberal doses of Soltron, which appears to have restored performance levels!

Weather was good, most days were spent wandering the streets (no change there!) with a few trips to OXO tower (ouuuuuch!!) The Shard (woooowwwww!) and the usual Southbank stuff, but now we're back, the boat has to be very clean and shiny for next weeks 'Fleet review' at Bray!

On one hand...

It was of course nice to see you all , thought 50 Shades looked nice as you cruised past on way home...

Feel fairly sure I do not remember any arm twisting offer to buy drinks on your part ...could just be my bad memory of course :)
Will be up to see you lot in August about 15 boats on list so far.
