I\'m a dipstick

Looked through my Bukh DV10 user's manual and my service manual for info on the engine oil dipstick. All it says is keep the oil level between the 'two marks'. What marks? My dipstick blade has a narrow section near the distal end of the stick. I presume this is the level indicator.
Can someone confirm that for me? I do not want to run the engine low on oil.
Thanx folks.

[/ QUOTE ] I would presume so too. It is a common way of marking dipsticks

Strange! My DV10 used to have the 'traditional' two marks on the dipstick. Perhaps they had different types over the years. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks everyone. I guess the thin bit is the same as the two marks approach. I will assume it to be so. If the engine blows up it will be everybodies fault but mine (lol)
