Illuminated boat names

Try Petem who posts on here
I dabbled with this but in the end decided it was too complex for me to do as a sideline. Yachtlite are considered to be the best (Yachtlite The Original: Illuminating Yacht Lettering) but you won't get much change out of £3-4k I believe. Plus it's something else to go wrong and you'll need to drill a load of holes in the bavk of your boat for fitting.

I'm more than happy to make you a beautiful non-illuminated name for a fraction of that price if you like.

You could try Lumenautica. com.

Had an illuminated sign made and fitted by them couple of years ago. Excellent service and very tidy fitting.:)

I suspect that 3D printing the backing might be simplest as it will be an exact size and can have recess for lights etc
Machining the Perspex backing is the easy bit (using a hybrid of laser and CNC machining). The hard bits are heat management, ensuring the correct voltages for the LED's so that they don't discolour, ensuring that the LED modules have the correct type approval, getting the light to be evenly distributed (hard when you have studs for attaching the letters), coping with curved transoms, making them waterproof, voltage converters, very fine soldering, etc, etc.

There's good money to be made but you need to ensure that they are perfect and last for a few years so that you don't have pissed off customers asking for their £x,000 back.

If I make a stainless steel name, the costs are much lower so if the customer doesn't like it then they can have their money back (not that it's ever happened)!
