I used to think that things happened better in the days of the Conservancy, when I assume it was a small organisation.
However, even though DEFRA and EA are huge lumbering organisations, they do have a multitude of resources that then can pull in.
The difficulty with the Thames is that
make handing over the navigation to a charity much, much more involved than just BW who own their infrastructure and the track.
- its water catchment area is large and complex (look at the EA Thames Basin charts),
- the rights of way over locks and adjoining lands are complicated,
- wayleaves are convoluted and
- a whole host of issues that "we" are not privy to ,
That's not so with the Thames.
From the horse's mouth, dear boy, the horse's mouth....as for insulting lock keepers and there families i do not know we you get that from....
