If it were like that it would keep the rowing population down a bit....

If only! Has anyone moored at Child Beale lately? The "training" boat from Pangbourne is driven by a clueless clod who has no consideration for any other person on the river.They would do well to have a go with a kettle of boiling water in their hand as this clod goes by.
 
& usually with not a rowing boat in sight! I know they are allowed (completely wrongly IMO) but surely they shouldn't speed between rowing boats 1.5 miles apart?

Yes, and I heartily agree. I thought of various strategies to annoy him back but hadn't considered boiling water. Maybe his wake will make me loose my balance...............

The number of scullers on this section will only get worse once the rowing club on the Whitchurch to Mapledurham stretch move to there new home upstream by Gatehampton bridge

Thought the coaches boats were only speed excempt whilst actually following crews not for jolly`s blasting up and down the river
