If it wasn’t for bad luck................

I don’t know the engine but assume there’s a charge air cooler.

ever the optimist.....hopefully it has caught the bits missing from the compressor wheel. You need to find the bits you can and ”rebuild” it, like a jigsaw to confirm nothing went into the engine
It’s the exhaust side, any bits should be sat in the bottom of the silencer.

Yes there is a CAC, and the grill on the air side of is is pretty dense (see pic below), so I would think that your hope is rather realistic.

@Chris H: how/where did the shaft break? Depending on that, it might be worth checking also the intake side of the CAC for any metal bits.
Besides, does your boat really have silencers? I would have thought she had underwater exhausts.

8.5k!! Eina! and I grumble at mine which are a 1/10th the price. Good luck in your hunt for cause and a more cost effective rebuild somewhere.

How are the two possibly connected?
Three separate issues in post #1
Apologies for my assumption of readers mental elasticity being able to switch between the three .
Never said or hopefully inference the 3 were connected.
If the ice maker engineer replaced say a compressor ( guessed ) or other part with new he may have diligently turned of the water and power etc .
Chris says it’s cold so assume the comp works , but no ice .
Pete ...ice comes from water you know . :)

I'm so used to you conflating issues that it's hard to keep up. Let's get Chris and his Turbo sorted out before turning to ice makers.

Well.......I’ve got a bit of time on my hands now, ice maker is the next job.

French price 4800 euro, uk price £680, quoted 17 hours to replace, took me two hours to remove, easily replace the new turbo in 3 hours, 5 hours all in !

How can the french guys inflate the parts prices so much? as you've found out its easy to check the true cost - surely they dont get many people paying those inflated prices?

Think you need to find a new group of mechanics.....

Superb result! You could even do both of them to be on the safe side :)
That's probably a bit of a stretch, but in the OP boots I would definitely want to make at least a visual check of all the (3) others.

That's quite a result, congrats! (y)
If you don't mind sharing your UK source at that price, I for one would surely appreciate and save it for future reference!
