It belongs to an American couple who spend their whole time travelling to fishing competitions. It was in Bermuda in July chasing world record blue marlin, and took a 'short cut' aross some coral heads.

A few bobs worth of damage, especailly as the hull had cracks around the p-brackets big enough to put your fingers in.

First comment is it's bluidy ugloo, and the top hamper gives it away as a yankee fish adventure wagon. Top platform is for long range spotting, then you move down to the next platform where you can shout at your crew. Finally, you move (via the flybridge) to the aft deck where you strap yourself into the seat before handling 'the rig' and landing the catch.

Best to remember to navigate a bit, even in the excitement of the top platform.

OK, so the local grapevine has a habit of exaggerating these things. It is a a 72 footer (don't ask me about engines though) and fitted out to a very high standard for living and fishing. $4million is probably about right.

erm - yeah, I know, been there, done that and got the T-shirts.
That's why I would want something like this, rather than a 'gin palace', if I had a Mobo instead of or as well as a decent ragboat.

to me, it looks more like a boat, than something like La Covetta.

hi here you could most likely get one for 500thou thats ab0ut 250th pounds up to 60 ft as we do have a calling for them but not so much now only big game boys use them here .plenty of old ones for sale a small one youed get 50 60 th so if you want one come over here/?? all mustang mad here at present very fast 48 ft 480th of pure lux thats about 250 in your pounds 30 40knts speed

Its more a case of "don't let tcm spoil a good thread" even when you know he's wrong. I am sure he is not looking right now, and I have woken up more sober than i was when I went to bed, so feel pretty safe!

admittedly I haven't looked at the websites for prices - maybe I will - but if you can buy a brand new 72foot go-anywhere catch-anything boat, fully kitted out down below to liveaboard, for one million dollars in the US..... I will eat my Tilley hat.

I take on board what David123 is saying, but there is a difference between the US, UK and Aus.

its a "sport fisherman" and um, it can't be new if its a bit wrecked in the props department. Most expensive s/hand 72 foot sport fish (use adanced search) i cd find is $3.6m, but plenty around the $1 -$2m mark, altho they all have props afaik. Hence $1m. Or less than $2m anyway. Either way 72foot mobos don't cost $8m cos er i bort a 76ft and it was under $2.8m hence $2m s/hand or $1m for 72 with shagged hull and drivetrain.

You have to eat the metal bits of the hat as well.

hi yes i agree with you there our boat prices seem high to us here but when i see what you lot pay for them ours are cheap you can buy a realy nice boat here for 25 thodollars up to 30 ft with all the gear thats about 12 500 pounds i looked at a top hat 28 footer the other day with my son very nice boat18.000 thats9.000 in your moneyand thats in good nick all round lots of real bargins here all time but you need cash in pocket to do realy well. my litttle hunter i got for 700.dlrs only needed paint job sails like a dream. my 60 footer came with new washing mashine air con and all mod cons total price 65.000 your price would have been32.000 so you see its realy good here if you want a boat nearly every man and his dog got one here.
