NOTICE TO MARINERS
No 31(T) of 2011
Port of Southampton – Dredging Works Hythe Marine
Park March/April 2011
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that dredging works will commence at Hythe Marine Park on
or about Monday 14th March 2011. The works will last for a period of approximately 3

‘WITTON II’. The hopper barges ‘SPLIT TWO’ and ‘SPLIT THREE’ will carry the spoil to
the Nab disposal area.
All craft will display the lights and shapes as required by the International Regulations for
Preventing Collisions at Sea and mariners are requested to reduce speed, as safe
navigation permits, when passing ‘WITTON II’ when engaged in underwater activities.
The dredging works will be continuous throughout the period and mariners should expect
to pass the hopper barges at any time between Hythe Marine Park, Southampton Water
and the Nab disposal area. Both the dredger and the hopper barges will maintain a
listening watch on VHF Channel 12 throughout and may also be contacted on Mobile
Phone as follows:
‘WITTON II’ 07887 982554
‘SPLIT THREE’ 07921 472358

Mariners may also request movement information from Southampton VTS on VHF

I wonder how many use DSC to make a ship to ship?
Do not most of us consider its strength is its distress capabilities?
