If a jobs worth doing etc.

Handy tip that . May send it to PBO. They pay £ 50 for such ideas
Dick Everett has probably done it, using bungee instead of a cable tie. Mike Peyton will have done a cartoon about it, calling the boat "First Contact". Tom Cunliffe will have dragged out an archaic sailing term for it and instructions on how to undo it will have appeared in "Winterise your boat" every year since 1975.

Why's it "Alfa" and not "Alfa Romeo" - they seem to use the latter on the website, model name etc?

Because...

@Dan Tribe spelt Romeo correctly (or rather, his autocorrect left it alone).

........... jump start my car from another car. Alpha Romeo battery terminals.......

And yes, properly it is Alfa Romeo, although a lot of owners refer to them as Alfas. (Like wise Rolls and Aston).

I laughed at this bodge but then remembered that I have used Mole grips in the past to overcome a temprary problem.
Probably because I'm of a generation that owned clapped out boats and vehicles and you had to know "get you home" tricks.
