A friend far, far away has been rooting around inside a new-to-him First 24SE and has asked if I can identify the purpose of the pair of rods shown in the pic:

Any well-informed guesses?

They appear to be the same 'thing' as the 'thing' directly under them, but I guess not since that has been identified?

They definitely look like something to do with battens. The First 24se has a square top main right? Are they something to do with the headboard?

Clown! Do you think I given my age, would know what a Ninja stick is?

Is it something to eat, perhaps? Like bread sticks or chicken drumsticks.
Just to help you out 😁 They aren't actually called Ninja sticks they are called something else but it doesn't matter.

Puzzled, I've been rooting about for an answer to 'what is it?'

It's not the top batten, which is longer - as in this pic:

Delving around in a couple of First 24 'sales and spares' sites, I found this, which may well solve the puzzle:

The item is described in German as a 'Kiel Pin'. I note the section of cord just visible, and reckon that's a likely answer.
So my best guess is that they are spare Keel Pins, possibly sacrificial.

Does that mean pivot for the lifting keel? Wouldn't it need bolts and it doesn't look strong enough. Failing that, what is a keel pin in this context?
