Identify a boat - help needed!!

Hi, I have recently become the owner of a cobra s42 which appears to be similar to designs by Sparkman and Stevens, and is rather like some from the Swan stable - if only!!
Grp, 42ft loa, cutter rigged, built I believe by one of the Taiwan yards in the '80's, I presume sold in the uk by Cobra.
She is quite a pretty boat and although there are issues she is in overall terms well built, but in a sorry state right now.
Does anyone know anything about her heritage, or lack of it??!

very similar layout to many of the IORiii racers in the 70s/80s.


If she is S&S, then the 'bustle' will kick up a hell of a stern wave when you are travelling downwind.
 
Yes dead on - she was clearly intended to be a production boat given some of the literature, but I can find no trace of her existence elsewhere?
Any thoughts?

I've just taken a look and there are definitely similarities. The layout is quite different but some of the joinery detail is absolutely identical which cannot be a coincidence. My gut feeling is that this class of boat, or at least hull deck, rig and engineering probably exists in another form elsewhere under a different name? She would have been too costly to build as a one off, so other yards may have sold what is a Taiwan built boat but under another name?
Does anyone know if Baltic bought in their builds, or are they 100% self built?

sorry I don't seem to have the brochure in my big file; there is still some slight hope, I know I had it at one stage but my stock of sailing info did take battle damage during a divorce...

Will keep looking, sorry to have raised your hopes; nice boat, but sadly no treble aft cabins so she can't possibly be any good ! :)
 
Hi, yes she's in a pickle and needs a thorough going over. Main issue is leaking teak decks, other than re rig, re plumb, and re wire!!

Thanks for looking! Did you pick brochures up at a show or from the people selling her, is so have you any other info on them?
