Ideas for boat

Am in market for new boat - was originally thinking of a rib but am not to sure now. I'm looking for something 11 to 13 feet which is easy to tow, store and manouvre. I will use the boat on inland waterways but wouldnt mind taking it out to sea occasionally. The boat must have room inside for some fishing equipment and i'd also like it to have a bit of speed so something with a 10-15hp motor that can crack 20mph would be good.

if you are going to use it on the inland waterways, you need a boat with an engine that can operate effeciently at the speed allowed in the area you plan to operate. This could easily be a small outbaord auxiliary engine, which when the boat is used offshore, it hen available as a slow speed capability, of as a get you home if the main engine fails to work.
 
when i say inland waterway i mean chichester and langstone harbour but i dont know if that really counts. I think a 15 or 10 horsepower should be sufficient to push it around at harbour limits, but do you think 10 is too small to have some fun outside?

How many people you plan to carry

what you will be doing in the boat: fishing/cruising/transit A/B/ waterski/ etc.

Distances you plan to cover

what sort of budget

what sort of mooring : marina/tidal/deepwater/keep on trailer

Sometime back when I was on the Broads, we had a small shetland mobo which we attached a 25hp engine. This was reasonable in the no wash areas, but we soon added another 25 hp engine to be able to zoom when allowed.

I am upgrading from an inflatable with a 4hp engine. I really like the look of the Boston Whaler 110 but the dealer won't get back to me, any rough estimates at the price with a 10/15hp?

Any other suggestions of this sort of boat welcome.
 
just bear in mind the engine is the expensive bit here. Chichester harbour speed limit is 8knt and langstone 10, so in-harbour, speed isnt going to be an issue for you! Id also mention that both these harbour entrances (esp.chichester) can get absolutely horrendous in wind against tide, and you really wont want to be caught there not being able to get back in.... Please dont forget to allow decent lifejackets, hopefully a hand held vhf and so on in your budget. A fishing rod isnt going to save your life... There are public slipways around, but they can be very busy and tidal. Facilities at the marina slips might not be cheap, but you do get parking,loos, areas to clean the boat after,,less traffic... Up to you where the value is. If you are to tow your boat on the roads, you ll need to maintain the trailer.. so watch that when you buy. Repairs are not cheap-sea water eats them to bits. probaly not on 12 ft boat, but just check all the towing weights etc if you have a smaller car.
Chichester is a marvellous location. You ll have a great time, but just watch the depth and tides, or you could find yourself high and dry!!
 
I plan to launch at Emsworth hard, we have another boat on a mooring there. Have been navigating the harbour entrance in said boat for a while now so i know the problems it can cause. Do you think 15hp is about right? or less?
