Iconic Princess .. When the sales team got it wrong. ?

There was nothing 'wrong' with the 315, the only issue really was Princess at that time dividing the model range into very small slices. It was too close to the 330 which offered two cabins to the 315's one cabin, and that wasn't far from the Princess 35.

The Corniche also was available with two cabins at 31ft which can't have helped, but I suspect the 315 is the better sea boat, the Corniche is very full in the bow to get all the space inside. But as we know, space sells.

Also worth noting that it launched in 89, just in time for the financial meltdown shortly after, which I suspect was responsible for some hasty range consolidation (and the beginning of an upscale in size - at that point the range started at 26ft with the 266 Riviera!)

These are big 31 feet boats compared to today. I think a Corniche 31 measued over-all included pulpit and bolted on bathing platform about 34 feet, and had a water line length of 27 feet.
The Corniche worked very well in offering a flybridge sub ten meters IMO.
The Princess 315 was okay but I think the 330 was a much better boat to it as was the Corniche. The Corniche as I stated in a post a couple of weeks ago is better to the 330 and 35. I still think it had sweet lines. Corniche feeled and was a bit larger to the 330 in real dimensions.
I think the real competitor to a Corniche was more the Princess 35 at the time. As far as I know the 315 used the 30 DS hull.

As a Princess 315 owner for over 10 years I decided to register and make a few comments about the 315.
The hull is not the same as a 30DS, it has a very deep vee entry at the bow which reduces slightly to the stern which is then extended further underwater under the bathing platform.Looking from the side the rudders are actually under the bathing platform, this extends the hull making the waterline longer. The LOA is actually 34 feet.
two TAMD41 on shafts give a very well balanced boat with good sea keeping qualities and great performance.
