Anyone tried one yet?

My Shakespeare is now 15 years old, no DSC and feeling its age (in fact the handheld Navico now has better reception).

The M505 looks like a reliable fully-specified bit of kit and the ability to be used from a remote position, as well as hailer/auto-foghorn.

Only problem it's still stuck with NMEA 0183 GPS input.

although they are in all the yachting mags, I have been waiting to see one before i decide to buy one, but have not seen any around, so contacted icom..
informed on shelves around late 06. most probably ready for christmas.

the icom 505, is smaller than the 601, and has all the dsc capability on the 2nd station handset, including the hailer, auto foghorn, which looks very versatile dsc radio, and the price looks ok, £299/£369...

thanks for the reply, i will go and have a 'butchers' and see for myself...
thanks again, sorry to misinform, but that was what i was told by the icom sales staff when i emailed...
