Does anybody know if there are any differences between vhf ICOM IC-M72 and IC-M71? Is it simply the name as M72 is for the US market whereas M71 for Europe?

I researched a US/Canada model of the icom m33/m34 and the main diiferences were:
PRICE (about half)
Channels: Selectable US / Canada / international sets of channels vs one European? set - one marina channel 80 calling? different I think.
Certification: US certified vs. CE marked etc "official" UK.

See if you can find the manual (on the net?) with the channel lists to compare if you are worried.

Please note that under the RTTE regulations and OFCOM licesing, it is an offence to install non-CE equipment without having it first measured as compatible.
