I've been looking for information on the Icelander 40 yacht. They were built in stee by Hywel Price yard in Bristol and that's about as much as I've been able to discover on t'internet. Any information gratefully received.

I went aboard a completed one, during the Bristol Festival of the Sea 1996.

Only vague impressions remain, I'm afraid.

She looked very sturdy, in a rough, tough, no nonsense, steel sort of way.

She had a (possibly very useful) shallow draft, and centre plate.

The fitout was robust and workmanlike, rather than impressive joinery (but I think she was owner completed).

Sorry .... no real detail.

Edit:

You must know this already, but a quick 'google' comes up with some other stuff, including this: https://www.yachtsnet.co.uk/archives/icelander-43/icelander-43.htm

I knew someone who built one in a shed in Bristol Docks in the late 1970s in ply, so not all were steel. Some seem to be 40 ft, some 43 ft: also some are fin keel and some shallow fin with centreboard.

Please do not mention the "S" word you will start Brent Swain off again with stories about how he has rammed icebergs ever since he retired ( retired ? did he ever go to work?) at 20 years of age.:encouragement:
