I've just made an impulse purchase for the boat....an ice maker. Great little machine it is too! Not too big or cumbersome and will sit quite neatly either on the side in the saloon or by the sink in the cockpit. Churns out a continual batch of ice every 12 minutes, not too noisy either. Now then...bring on the heat wave!
Just wanted to share my excitement.

Lisa, great idea, anything drinks related gets my thumbs up.

btw, this is so totally off subject I apologise, .. we stayed with family recently and they had a pug and 2 boxers... the pug thought she was a boxer, the boxes thought they were pugs... it was slightly odd but very funny..& our daughter found this video which if you have not seen.... as a pug owner I guarantee you will like....

I have one at home, really pleased with it, don't leave with water in it when not using as ice quality is then not good.

Excellent shopping Lisa - icemakers are essential kit. As well as coffee machine (iPhone) and breadmaker, consider one of those ultra healthy chip making machines called Tefal Actifry

or current user :) (Conspiracy theory #137). Good technical knowledge, but a bit over enthusiastic about growing plants on his quarterdeck....

Well...I filled it's water tank (2ltr I think) hours ago and it's STILL churning out ice. So far...two baskets full (or two large jugs if you prefer). Dead impressed. £100 + p&p from Amazon. Good value I think.

I think GC1 modestly stared with a toaster, surely, and that was on the pontoon...
However, I think it is time for some forumite to start a microbrewery on board?

I've long thought the solution to refridgeration on board is an ice maker, ice can be used in drinks, plus, rather than a fridge a top loading icebox with a false floor, a chute down one side to pour ice into and a drain over board.

I know, its a brilliant idea. thank me later.

Hi

we are after an ice maker......which one did you get?

Thanks
Hiya, it's this one :http://www.wechillit.com/product.php?product=T315. On Amazon at £120 (sorry, I thought it was £100. Still worth every penny tho). It makes a continual fan noise while working but it's not annoying and you wouldn't hear it above music or chat etc or just put it in a different room.
