Are you sure that princess don't fit an inline carbon filter for the ice maker supply? Fairline and Sunseeker do!
I had exactly the same thoughts!:ambivalence:

Ah I see. Yes, but the cost is more than that of the ice maker!I thought the separate tank solution was what Princess were offering you to get round the issue of taking water from the main water tank?
The op is in Palma not Cala dor but I can confirm Cala dor water is beyond redemption !In the none marine industry there are basically two types of ice machines,
The ones that have a built in fresh water tank and the ones designed to be connected to a pressurised water supply, the way they are assembled is completely different
I'm assuming your is the latter ? If so it doesn't really lend itself to anything other than a pressurised water supply from your main tank or as you discribed a secondary tank with pump
Have you considered fitting a water filtration system as the OP mentioned, it could be installed to filtrate just the ice machine supply or the whole boat
A friend installed a "Nature-Pure" system so they could drink marine water on their live-aboard in Vilamoura
From memory it worked very well
Not sure if Cala dor's water is beyond filtration but I would of thought a decent filtration system inc uv would be a fraction of the cost of a secondary tank / pump etc
