To end the confusion over ICC's and other qualifications, ICCs should be issued to any man over the age of 35 who as owned a boat for an accident free period of 2 years.

Coastal Skipper should be issued to those with a five year accident free period and Yachtmaster to those with 10 years accident free boat ownership.

Men under 35 and all women should only be allowed to operate a boat under the close supervision of a card holding 35+ male.

And only those holding ICC, CS or YM should be allowed to buy a boat.

Given a few years, that should sort out the congestion in a few marinas!

If you want to sort out congestion, why not ban all crew who wear high healed shoes, marigolds and tight trousers. That would cut down the number of big Mobos, and probably save a few marriages too! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Blimey! I've been sailing without any adverse incidents for 49 years now and have sailed round much of the world, as well as singlehanded and don't have a single certificate of any sort! I just looked up the ICC and am told that it is required in the Med where I am now and have been sailing for years, but I have never been asked by anybody, anytime! Should I apply? More to the point, could I pass the test? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
