No. You pay your tax Spanish import and get the document and you can keep the boat in Spain for ever.. British flagged and following British non rules.Thanks Michael. Sounds as though Spain is being very lenient compared to the EU directive .
aTo keep the UK flag, was it necessary for the boat to spend a certain amount of time outside Spanish water? ie, in Gibraltar - or where-ever?
We keep Paw Paw in Gib cos actually its cheaper (at present exchange rates not so sure) and Louise likes to shop in Morrisons also it's nice to speak English for a change!!
I think most UK folks waste a lot of effort and time trying not to register which really costs very little and risk fines etc for breaking the Spanish law. No Spanish official (police - etc) are ever going to ask for an ICC - but charter boat companies may well for obvious reasons and marinas will certainly want - insurance documentation to permit you to stay.
