A question to anyone experienced with boat charter. I have been asking about chartering a 40ft in Mallorca. The same question keeps cropping up - "have you got an ICC licence?" I have enquired about doing the ICC and have been told that it is only available to UK passport holders. I have a Powerboat 2 licence. Is this an equivalent to ICC?
Any help from persons involved in chartering is appreciated.
It would be great to actually get out on the Med this summer!!!

The ICC is only meant to be open to UK nationals. We issue them with PB level 2
so if you didnt get one I guess that the reason. We are trying to put pressure on the Irish authorities to recognise this certificate

Yes, I have read in the local boating press that the ICC is under consideration, however, I will not be holding my breath.
Do you know... what do other nationalities do to charter on the Med?
I assume that they are required to hire a skipper also.

Regards mallorca the best co for motorboat charter is Vitesse email vitesse@jet.es usually with the right peice of paper you dont have to have a skipper under approx 44feet they will give you all the facts

8-1 is right, vitesse are good. Just askem directly what papers you need. Frexample they will know that a Dayskip Practical entitles a UK national to an automatic ICC, so if you have Dayskip Prac I'm bet they would accept that. Just call and ask, they are English speaking. They will also take you out on a test drive when you collect the boat and if they think you are dodgy they will impose a skipper, so make sure you can do what you tell them you can do!

Exactement. He can therefore get RYA tickets but not ICC. So if he tells the charter co that he has all the tickets necessary for an ICC, and the only thing preventing him getting ICC is his nationality, they might let him have the boat?
