My son needs to get an ICC so he can use our small power boat in Spain.
He's not got a lot of experience so definitley needs to do a course, he lives near Aylesbury. Can anyone recomend a school or instructor within reasonable distance.
Can he do this at an inland waterway?

Think RYA list training schools etc on their web site

You can do a RYA level 2 inland, but as you want to use it in Spain, I would guess you want a coastal ICC. Best to go to a coastal centre and complete the 2 day level 2 course which you can then convert into an ICC. You need to be at least 16 years old to receive the ticket with a coastal endorsement, but you can do the course from 12 years.

The particular ICC you are after is the Power up to 10m. Assuming he is 16 or over he can either take a 2 day RYA Powerboat Level 2 course or attend a direct assessment of less time (typically half a day). If the course or assessment is taken at a coastal centre then he will receive the coastal ICC.

The inland certificate can be taken at a inland or coastal centre but requires an additional theory test on the CEVNI regs. Most people only need the coastal so take the 2 day course at a coastal centre.

I can absolutely recommend Stormforce (I note that Doug has answered your post) I did all my training there, good people, excellent instructors I had little to no boat knowledge and they did it at a pace at put all at ease..... :D

They even came down to Spain to do my practical part (day Skipper) in Spain on my own boat..... That in it's self was valuable experience.
