We are planning a 2 week cruise on west cost of Ibiza this summer, Hoping to anchor whenever possible but limiting factor likely to be water. I would like advice is it possible to pick water from e.g. fuel dock probably either at san antonio or Ibiza town? any toher sugestions welcome.

Ibiza Water Advice

There are others with much more local knowledge than me but last year Bottafoch Fuel Jetty didn't have water, I was advised to book into the marina if I wanted to top up.

Took one look at the huge boats tied up and the likely costs and thought better of it. To be honest I doubt that we would have got in anyway. In the end we managed until we got back to the mainland.

I will watch for answers with interest.

I've just got back from Holiday in Ibiza (non sailing) and I found it was cheaper to drink Vodka than water :)

However I was told to only drink the bottled stuff, nothing from the taps. Plenty of markets and shops sell the bottled stuff, but if you want to keep it cheap don't buy in San Antoni!

Potable water in San Antonio

We were in Ibiza last summer and took water in San Antonio. We went into the marina office in person before hand to arrange to go in and were told to go to a berth as close to the water/fuel dock as possible (you could probably arrange this over VHF). We took only water (i.e. we didn't have to take diesel to have access to the water) and it was potable. We were charged, but I don't think it was that much. Check opening times of the office administering the fuel/water.

We stayed on the west side for two weeks twice last summer, went into Formentera the first trip, spoke to the lady in the office on VHF and tied up in a berth she allocated, I recall we were there for 2 - 3 hours, and she charged about 15 Euros for the berth.

We had to pay a deposit of 50 Euros for a water tap meter, and total cost after taking 500 litres was about 5 Euros. No problem, and gave us a chance to visit the supermarket and Chandelery.

I suspect mid to late morning is the best time to go in, we also bought fuel there.

Second trip we spent two nights in Ibiza Town marina, not as expensive as I had thought it would be, and water and electricity included.

We anchored off formentera last week and went into the Marina for water. Went in around 1.00pm after some boats had left for the day. Asked for water on VHF and was directed to fuel quay and was left to fill up. Not charged at all. Had tried in Ibiza the day before but no free berths and limited times when the marinas would let you have water. Great anchorages at formentera, take plenty of bottled water!!!

Don't think there is water at the fuel berth, which is at the end of the ferry terminal pier in San Antonio.
No fuel at the Marina, and it keeps Spanish times, so closed during the afternoon.
We just went into marinas every 5 th day, for water, which was fine, and some R and R.
*helps keep you in touch, and the sunsets are good at Cafe Mambo.

I have never had a problem in the Balareics, just call up a marina on the VHF, tell them you would like to come in for water and I have never been refused, sometimes charged (not much) and most often not.

I think providing you realise they are doing you a favour and treat the marina accordingly its just fine

5 or 6 euros in San Antonio depends who serves you, they like you to use C pontoon hammerhead for water as it leaves the fuel pontoon free for fuel. Ibiza town water from berths directly in front as you enter Botafock next to fuel berth, 10 euros.
