Just like to say a big thank you to Ian and Tracy who very kindly stopped midstream to help us between Wallingford and Benson lock when our outboard conked out and refused to start.

I was just a tad embarassed when I decided to see if it would restart in Benson lock and surprise surprise, the OB sprang back into life. Ian said what a way to save on fuel by getting a free tow lol.

And to the half dozen or so other boats that went past us :p when we clearly had the outboard hood off either at speed that slammed us into the trees on the bank  or those that didn't even bother to ask if were OK. We weren't initially looking for help or a tow but the thought would have been reassuring.

Once again, our thanks go out to you both. Hope you have a great week and enjoy the Windsor meet :):)

Yup that definately puts you as boating on the Thames !

Shame really as it doesnt take long to stop and pull someone over to the side . You dont need to solve the problem , just make sure they are safe .

You are most welcome. I have tried the same scam to save petrol while pressing on up river but it didn't work for us lol.

Glad we were able to help in a small way.

We made it up as far as Abingdon for the night then yesterday started a slow cruise back down and found a lovely mooring just below Cleeve lock and I'm on my first cuppa of the day while I type this so I'd best think about getting up and organised.

Hope to see you both on the river again at some point.

Anyone know where I can get an RAC recovery sign for the side of our boat? ;-)

Jill and I will be at MDL Windsor for the Forum meet on Saturday. Boat may be in the water or on the hard depending on how the engine behaves.

Will certainly buy you both a drink or two or several on Saturday night ;).
